LESSON NO 1

CITIZENSHIP FORMS 2s A/B
TEACHER: M . Raymond
TOPIC: ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS.
LESSON: GLOBAL WARMING.

Global warming is the process by which worlds temperatures are rising. The world's temperature have risen by 0.5°C this century.

CAUSES OF GLOBAL WARMING.
1. Volcanoes release heat in to the atmosphere increasing the temperature.
2.the concentration of clouds in the atmosphere absorbs outgoing radiation that causes global warming.
3. Methane released from decaying organic matter also causes global warming.
Evaporation from oceans and transpiration from plants also increases temperature.

EFFECTS OF GLOBAL WARMING
1. It cause changes in the world's climate.
2. There is an increase in storm activity due to more atmospheric energy.
3.sea temperatures have risen as it gets warmer and expand.
4.it has led to the defrosting of ice caps in the polar regions due to increase in temperature.

REVENTION POF GLOBAL WARMING.

a) There should be the introduction and use of electrical driven vehicles.
b) The government should ban the use of chlorofluorocarbons as chemicals.
C) There should be a reduction in the use of nitrogen fertilizers.

HOME WORK
1. List 02 other ways to prevent global warming?
2. What is acid rain?

LESSON NO2

WEEK BEGINNING 23RD TO 27TH MARCH 2020

Miss FONKEM

PHYSICS F2
MODULE V: ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
Introduction: This module consist of the management
of the components of the environment.  That is water,
air and soil.

GLOBAL WARMING AND CLIMATE CHANGE

This is the measurable increase in the average  temperature
Of the earth’s atmosphere,  oceans and land masses.
The rise in level of heat is due to gases trapped in the
Earth’s atmosphere. These gases are known as green
house gases, which radiates hear to the earth known as
green house effect.
NB:Global warming can lead to the following in future.
*Damage of crops
*Change in the pattern of rainfall
*Increase in the volume of oceans and a rise in sea level
due to increase in melting of ice which maylead to flooding.
*Disruption of settlement of some plants and animals
*Some species May become extinct
*Increase in amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

                  THE GREEN HOUSE EFFECT

This is when portions or parts of the earth’s surface are
trapped in the earth’s atmosphere and held by certain
atmospheric gases such water vapour,  carbon dioxide,
methane etc
NB:Green house gases enable plants not to be too cool
Types of Green House Gases and their Effects
Green House gases occur naturally and also result from
 human activities .They include
a)Carbondioxide;which is released into the atmosphere
through the eruption of volcanic rocks, respiration of
animals, burning or decay of plants and other
organic matters
b)Nitrous oxide;which is a potent green house gas
released by plugging farms, souls and burning fossil fuels.
It traps more heat than carbon dioxide.
C)Smog;it is a thico dirty fog such as exhaust fumes. It can
result to respiratory problems, eye irritation or even death.
d)Ozone:it is a component of smog in the lower altitude
and can be poisonous,damage vegetation,kill trees,irritates
the lung tissues.
e) Synthetic  Chemicals:It traps much amounts  of heat.
