Topic : Sources and Form of finance.
Objective: By the end of this lesson the students should be able to Explain Two sources of finance and know 4 of it's characteristics.
I)Definition
Finance is money that is made available for investment in a business enterprise. It is usually considered as wealth kept aside for the production of further wealth by economists, thereby including fixed assets like machine and equipments, used in generating a firm's sales items.
II) Form of capital
Capital can be classified by its sources into
a) Equity Capital
b) Debt Capital and Special purpose capital
1 Equity capital or self financing.
This are capital that is owned by a business venture or raised from ownership sources. It is made up of ordinary share and retained earnings.
Features of Equity capital
- It is owned by the business.
- It is Free i.e carriers. no interest cost.
- It requires on repayment pressure
- It require no collateral security
2) Advantages of Equity capital.
- It is cheap because it carriers no interest.
- The assets of the firm are not at risk since it requires no collateral security.
- It save time since procedure are shot.
- The firm using it has absolute control of it's operations without repayment pressure.
3) Disadvantages of Equity capital.
- It reduces the firm's cash position
- It can lead to mismanagement for cash resources because of the absence of repayment need.
- It could lead to inefficiency for the same reason

In addition to outstanding teaching and learning, our Sixth Formers enjoy a wide range of trips and activities and are expected to carry out leadership roles in the school and local community. This is reinforced by a rigorous pastoral programme, developing further the spiritual, moral, social and cultural education which students receive all the way through their time at King David Comprehensive High School.
