Chapter five ; Acid , Base and indicators
Some definitions
An Acid ,it us define as a proton donor or a substance that will turn blue litmus paper red e.g HCl, H2SO4
A Base is define as a proton acceptors or its a substance that will turn red litmus paper blue e.g NH3,NaoH ,KOH,
NB,A litmus paper is a lichen that changes its colour depending on whether the substances or solution is either an acid ,base or neutral
An indicator .it is a substance that changes colour depending on the nature of the solution that its whether a base ,an acid or neutral solution
A neutral solution or substance has no effect on litmus paper or indicator since it is not an acid or base e.g H20
The PH -scale
It is use to measure the nature or the strength of an acid ,base or neutral solution
An Acidic solution has a pH <7 e.g HCl
A basis or alkaline solution has a pH>7. E.g NH3
The neutral solution that a pH=7 e.g H20
The pH scale ranges from 1-14 and with increasing in basic strength

SAFETY MEASURES IN HANDLING RADIOACTIVE SOURCES
*Donot go too close to them
*Never point them at people especially at delicate tissues
like the eyes and reproductive organs
*Hold them at arm -length and in tweezers
*Store them in lead lined boxes
TOXIC WASTE
This is unwanted material which can cause death , injury
or birth defects in living things.
It also contaminates water bodies like lakes, rivers
and the atmosphere.
NB: Toxic waste always contains carcinogen which develops
to cancer.
HAZARDOUS WASTE
These are bi-products of disposed material which contain
toxic substances and are harmful to the health and the
environment .
Hazardous waste can be obtained from manufacturing
Farming, construction,laboratories, hospitals etc.
They can be solid, liquid,or sludge.They cause graet hazards
to people and should therefore be handled separately from
ordinary waste.
NB: Substances are considered hazardous if they are
*ignitable(capable of burning)
*corrosive
*reactive
*toxic.

There exist 03 main branches of Christianity which are Roman Catholicism, Eastern orthodoxy and Protestantism.
Christians worship in church on Sundays. The holy book of the Christian is a Bible. There exist many Christian churches but the major ones are ; the Roman Catholic , Presbyterian and Greek Orthodox churches.
REASONS WHY CHRISTIANITY WAS BROUGHT TO CAMEROON (AFRICA)
1' There was the need to destroy the African traditional beliefs and idol worship.
2'. The desire to appease Africans After the transatlantic slave trade.
3'. The need to stop the spread of Islam that was gaining grounds in North Africa.
4' The was need to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.
EFFECTS OF THE SPREAD OF CHRISTIANITY IN CAMEROON(Africa).
a) it led to the abolition of slavery and slave trade.
b)it led to the sense of honesty, unity and love for one another.
C)Christianity led to the improvement in health services like hospitals.
d)Christianity facilitated the colonisation of Africa.
e)Exploitation of natives, destruction of native culture and system of education.
