It was a bright Tuesday morning. The headmaster had come to school very unusual before 7:00 am the inspector for primary and nursery education was coming to our school. We had spent the day before, cleaning the compound. We decorated the compound with palm fronds. We planted them along the main entrance into ourschool, then we put beautiful flowers in every classroom and headmaster’s office. Later, we revised the national anthem and a few welcome songs.
During the afternoon assembly, the headmaster had promised hell to any pupil who would come to school dirty or late. Before the assembly the teacher teachers had given us strict instructions in our classeson what to do the following day. From the look of things no pupil could doubt the importance of ourexpected guest. In fact, a class one pupil couldbe heard that afternoon, telling his parents thatGod was to come to their school the following day
At exactly 10 O’clock, a white car was seen approaching our school. We were all very excited. It was the inspector. Weall ran out and linedup at the assembly ground. He drove straight to the headmaster before coming to join us. we sang the anthem and the welcome songs. The head masterread his welcome speech. The inspector saidmany things but whatcaught our attention most was thefact thatwas happy with the beauty and the academic performances of our school. He left our school at exactly 2 : 00 pm
